Book Signing

Hi everyone, been a while since I’ve been on here blogging away. Just to let y’all know I’ve arranged a book signing at the Book Fare in the Forbes Buildings on Linthorpe Road, Middlesbrough this Saturday coming probably from about 10:00.

I’ll be signing copies of My Little Blue Book, a work of erotic fiction.

Release Date for 'My Little Blue Book'

Ok people I’m going to be a bit more specific from now on.

The erotic fiction I’ve been working on; a collection of erotic short stories called ‘My Little Blue Book’ will be released on the 27^th September.

The first draft of my collection of erotic short stories has just now been uploaded to my publisher’s website. ‘My Little Blue Book’ is well on track for its launch in the back end of September!!!

Seriously: I simply cannot believe that people would be this hilariously stupid – On one hand I now know that when my erotic fiction comes out that I’m probably going to make a big wodge of cash from it, but on the other … you know what no … erotic fiction does not cause people to put their weaner in a toaster of all things – and I find it hard to believe the fire services assertion that most of these instances may have anything to do with reading erotica.

‘The fire brigade urged those using handcuffs in the bedroom “to always keep they key handy”’: No s*** Sherlock. If I recall correctly most handcuffs that can be bought from sex shops actually have a safety catch on them as well anyway.

Seriously sex toys come with instructions and people’s man parts and lady parts shouldn’t need to come with an instruction guide:

Point 1) Do not put you appendage in a toaster or vacuum cleaner ;)

Point 2) Don’t lose the handcuff keys

Point 3) If you ignore points 1 & 2 please be aware the fire service staff who turn up are NOT strippergrams

Getting there

Excellent past few days, I managed to get one of the stories I’d written down typed up and got another one fully finished. Had a bit of a night off last night at a burlesque show: was excellent as always – I saw some very exciting and imaginative acts, sexy, artistic and funny all rolled into 1, I was impressed. I think I’m going to put the order for the adverts for my next book out soon too: All very exciting.

Plodding along

OK then I’ve finished my latest short story and I’ve begin the next. I’ve had so many inspirational ideas over the past few days I’ve got half a notepad with scribbling’s of stuff I need to write up into short story form. Well on Track for the September realise date.

busy times

I sat my UKCAT test again today: I did OK scoring about the same as last year. I’m filling out yet another application to medical school. I’ve got about half way through typing up the short story I’m submitting for creative writing and now I need to start writing up the physics portfolio. I’ve managed to get a bit of spare time to myself and finished the last scene of one of the erotic short stories I intent to publish in September done, naturally I’ll post links to any suppliers in various countries online when it comes out either here or on my author website @ sites.google.com/site/AllanMcLeodOnline

There are 2 ways of seeing this: in the case of the employee they chose to apply for a job there and if such a thing is objectionable to them then they shouldn’t have: I'm a vegetarian - I therefore have to accept that if I choose to apply for a job in a supermarket I'm going to have to handle stuff from the deli counter whenever I'm asked to work on tills - I couldn't ask them to close the deli counter because I would find it objectionable. In this case I would have 2 choices, put up with it or find a new job: Such is exactly the policy I enforced on myself when I was working in a pub - I didn't refuse to carry steak to the customers because I found it objectionable, I accepted it was a part of the job – because I had been a regular there for a while the manager knew I was a vegetarian and made sure I could accept this before giving me an application form.
On the other hand I supported the smoking ban because I found it made the environment unpleasant, so a part of me wonders if not supporting this move is a touch hypocritical because it people asking for the environment they are in to be made more pleasant to them. It seems perfectly fair therefore to ask that 'lads mags' to be wrapped in the shop shelves with only the title of the cover showing.

The other issue regards to this is that of the sex industry: The sex industry will always exist; the more it is criminalised the more people will turn to the black market. All this action does is put sex workers in more danger than they are already in. Asking for the fronts of the magazines to be covered is one thing, but banning them from 'mainstream' stores just pushes the problem underground. It’s the same principle as drug over-regulation - except that now we have a government which is considering relaxing drug regulation criminal gangs will need a new source of income. My guess is they will start people trafficking if we over-regulate the sex industry. At least if the sex industry is allowed to be out in the open then it can be observed and its members protected. So although I respect the oppinions of the abolishonists who are against the existence of the sex industry because they see it as exploitative, the only effect that their actions will have will be to create a whole new problem for sex workers in that their actions are illegal and that as sex workers will find it harder to claim the protection of the law they will be more open to exploitation.
